Coming soon to the school cafeteria are BPA-free lunch trays! Newcastle parent Susan Reinhold has identified the harmful plastics such as BPA that may come in contact with our children’s and staff’s food at the school cafeteria, and she is driving efforts to remove these plastics from our school.
The new lunch trays are being replaced not only at Newcastle Elementary but throughout the entire Issaquah School District of 22 schools and 5,000 students, with the costs of replacement covered entirely by the District. For more information about both safe and unsafe plastics, refer to the following link: http://www.aoec.org/PEHSU/documents/bpa_patient_july_8_08.pdf
