Kelcy Tiger, Children’s Librarian at the KCLS Newcastle Public Library, visited our school and told the kids about the fabulous Summer Reading Program! This year’s theme is FIZZ! BOOM! READ! and it pairs a lot of exciting learning activities with summer reading!  It’s easy to sign up. Kids can either go online (http://www.kcls.org/kids) or into any KCLS branch. The program runs through August 31st.  Ms. Tiger also shared lots of great new books with the kids! Bookmarks went home with program information with your kids. A list of all of her book talks can be found here. Your child can log in to his/her KCLS account and put any of the titles on hold. She also showed the kids links to all kinds of exciting summer learning activities that are coming to Newcastle. A few of the programs available are concerts, movie nights, LEGO classes, art lessons, visits from the Museum of Flight, the Seattle Aquarium, KidsQuest Museum and so much more! For program dates and times, click on the Summer Learning tab and search programs (Science & Technology, Engineering & Math, Reading, Art) to find out when different activities are happening right here in Newcastle! We are so lucky to have such fantastic resources as Kelcy Tiger and the award-winning King County Library System to keep our Lion Pride learning and growing all summer long!
