Support Newcastle Elementary By Visiting Jersey Mike’s Help support the Newcastle community as well as the PTSA by visiting the new Jersey Mike's restaurant from 1/8 - 1/17/2020. For each coupon redeemed, Jersey Mike's will donate $2.00 to the Newcastle Elementary PTSA. The store is located in downtown Newcastle, in the QFC/Tapatio strip mall (many of us know it as the former ZoeYogurt location). Hope to see you there! {click here for coupons}
Congratulations To The Geography Bee Finalists Congratulations to the following 4th and 5th grade students who have qualified during their Classroom Bees to compete as finalists in Newcastle Elementary School’s Geography Bee: Maddie Huey, Quinn Redmond, Connor Danichek, Alexis Martin, Aditi Pant, Colleen Hume, Connor Redmond, Josephine Le, Meeka Ku, and Ruchita Patel. The finalists will share their geography knowledge during the Geography Bee on Friday, January 10th at 9:30am in the Commons. Parents are welcome to attend and support our finalists. Thank you to Ms. Kallevig for being the teacher coordinator for the Geography Bee and also to the Newcastle PTSA for sponsoring this event. Best of luck to all of the finalists! EP&O Levy Election Coming Up February 11 – Local Support For Our Students Did you know that levies are locally-approved ballot measures that pay for programs that support local students? Voters in the Issaquah School District will get a chance to continue supporting many of the programs and services that the state does not fund that help make the Issaquah School District great. An Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) levy will be on the February 11, 2020 ballot, replacing an expiring two-year levy passed by voters in 2018. If approved, the replacement levy will continue to help pay for programs and services such as school mental health counselors, security staff, special education, career and technical education, training for teachers, preschool and other early childhood education, sports and other extracurricular activities, our dual language and highly capable programs, and school nurses. Learn more about this important levy, including a list of programs supported, financial, and tax rate information at www.issaquah.wednet.edu/levy-2020. Be sure you are registered to vote! Dine For Kids At Resonate Pizza And Brewery This Wednesday Come out on Wednesday, Jan. 8 and support the Issaquah Schools Foundation and our own local Resonate Brewery and Pizza. A portion of all food sales for the day will go towards the children of the Issaquah School District.
Volunteers Behind The Scenes
We’re thanking two volunteers working behind the scenes on the craziness that is our Lost and Found! Heather Ackermann has been coming weekly to organize all of the coats, gloves, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc! Meghan Brown packed up all that was not claimed and drove it over to the Issaquah Food Bank for us! Thank you for keeping us organized and helping us to give back!
