Thank You To Counselor Kailey Mutter! Kailey attended our Jan. 29 General Membership meeting and shared valuable information and insight on building resiliency in our kids as a means to help prevent bullying. She also shared details about the Second Step bullying prevention curriculum our students are learning. General Membership meetings are a great way to learn more about what our kids are doing at school while receiving info to help us support them at home. They are open to everyone! PTSA Sponsored Movie Night, Kindergarten & 2nd Grade Our first PTSA Movie Night is on Friday, Feb. 7 from 6-8pm in the Newcastle Elementary Commons. Kindergartners and 2nd graders are invited to come enjoy Abominable. All family members are welcome, but this IS NOT A DROP OFF event. Come in your PJs and bring a pillow and sleeping bag. Please bring an appetizer, main dish or snack to share. Future movie dates include: Friday, March 6 – 1st and 3rd Graders Friday, April 3 – 4th and 5th Graders
Candid Photos Needed For Yearbook We are in need of candid photos of your children for the 2019-2020 Newcastle yearbook. You can submit photos of your kids to our Yearbook Chair, Jessica Anderson, at jessiej0608@gmail.com. All photos should be of Newcastle students on school grounds or at school sponsored events or clubs (such as the Costume Carnival, Chorus, etc). Please be aware that the photos need to be at least 750KB or the resolution will be too low for the yearbook. Deadline for submission is Friday, March 20. Parent Wiser hosts local technology fixation expert, Jocelyn Skillman, with research and tips from Common Sense Media for Plugged-In Parents: Keeping Kids Safe, Happy & Healthy in the Digital Age, Feb 10th, 7-8:30pm at Issaquah High. Parents will learn how to balance media use as a family, find quality content, set expectations for healthy use, and raise kids to be media savvy and safe. For all parents and caregivers of K-8. Vote Yes On the Renewal Levy By Feb. 11! The 2020 EP&O Renewal Levy Continues Support For: Career & Technical Education • Mental Health Counselors in Our Schools • Special Education • Early Childhood Learning • Safety and Security • Highly Capable Programs • Dual Language Program • After School Activities and Athletics This is not a new tax. This renewal levy replaces the previous two-year levy expiring in 2020. With voter approval of this renewal levy, we can ensure these programs continue benefitting our students for another 2 years. News From Issaquah Schools Foundation Dining for KidsJoin us Wednesday, February 5th at La Casita and they will donate a portion of your bill to Issaquah Schools Foundation.
