How To Help Our Community

It’s in challenging times like these that we show what our community can do. Many have asked how to help students and families in need in our district. The Issaquah School District, Issaquah Schools Foundation, and Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank are working as a team to coordinate efforts, working together to help mobilize donors and volunteers to support our students with what they need.

The most pressing need is for food support.  If you would like to help, the best thing you can do right now is to give to the foodbank.  Please note:

    • The foodbank is currently unable to accept private donations delivered to the door.  They do, however, appreciate ONLINE ORDERS SHIPPED DIRECTLY FROM VENDORS.  Please have them shipped to 179 1st  SE, Issaquah, WA 98029.
    • This is their emergency needs list.  Included in that list are links to online ordering options for local delivery including a link to their Amazon wish list
    • The Foodbank has shifted their method of operation and can use volunteers.  If you are not in the high risk category and are interested in volunteering, please read the information on this volunteer page carefully, which includes their policies and links to sign-up.

Last Chance to Submit Photos for the Yearbook

The school closure has made it difficult for us to get the typical number of candid photos we have for the yearbook. If you have taken any photos at school or at school events (field trips, 5th grade camp, etc), please send them to our Yearbook Chair, Jessica Anderson, at jessiej0608@gmail.comAll photos should be of Newcastle students on school grounds or at school sponsored events or clubs (such as the Costume Carnival, Chorus, etc). Please be aware that the photos need to be at least 750KB or the resolution will be too low for the yearbook. Deadline for submission is Friday, March 20

We Need You for the 2020/2021 PTSA Board

Our Nominating Committee will continue to look for members of our community to join our PTSA Executive Board even while school is closed. If you know someone you think would be great at this or are even a little bit interested yourself, please contact them at newcastleptsa.nominating@gmail.com. You can find more information about the positions available and typical time commitments {here}.

Looking for Ways to Keep the Kids Busy?

Not many of us were set up or prepared to homeschool our kids for 6 weeks, so here are some online resources to help give ideas:

  • Issaquah School District digital resources for Elementary Students - {here}
  • Education companies offering free subscriptions – find them {here}
  • The weather is beautiful – go outside! Ideas {here}
  • Our very own Art Docent Chair, Randi Belcher, is full of great ideas – follow her at How2PlayToday on Facebook and Instagram for live streaming and fun projects.
