Show Newcastle Staff Your Appreciation This Week!

This week is Staff Appreciation Week. No doubt you appreciated our amazing teachers and staff before school closed, but we’re guessing you appreciate them even more now! So why not show them how much you miss them by sending them some love and thanks this week? Here are some suggestions for the kids: 

• Write a thank you note and email it
• Create a Poster (take a picture with the poster and email)
• Make a video playing an instrument or sing a song to your teacher
• Show them your skills! For example…make up a dance, tricks with a soccer ball, hula-hoop, jump rope, the sky is the limit…
• Sidewalk chalk tributes, share attributes of your teacher on your sidewalk
• Write a poem or short story about the teacher, video student reading their work

We hope your kids will take the time to create a special tribute to the teachers and staff this week (and remember specialists and paraprofessionals too). Teacher and staff emails can be found here. Your notes can be emailed or posted directly on your teacher’s platform of choice (Seesaw, etc). Thank you for joining us in showing our incredible teachers how much we admire and appreciate them and all they do.

Want To Help Determine The Direction Of Our PTSA? Consider Joining The 2020/2021 Board

Our search for PTSA Board members has gone virtual along with school. Have you ever wondered what the PTSA does? Have ideas about how PTSA activities could be improved? Just want to become more involved in your child’s school? Consider joining the PTSA Board. Our Nominating Committee is in search of people who can help us enrich the educational experience for every child at Newcastle. We’re looking for the following positions:

Most positions require a commitment of no more than 5 hours per month, including meetings, and we design meetings around the schedules of our board members. So whether you’re a mom or dad or grandparent, whether you work outside the home or stay home, the PTSA is for you. The only requirement is that you’re a PTSA member. If you are interested or just have questions or if you know someone you think could be great, please contact our Nominating Committee (Jessica Anderson, Marcia O’Donoghue, Sarika Sikka) at newcastleptsa.nominating@gmail.com. Newcastle Alumni Offering Free Virtual Tutoring Help

Current high school students and former Newcastle Lions Aiden Silvestri, Forrest Williams, and Miki Kusunose are offering FREE Zoom tutoring sessions for Newcastle students. They can tutor any subject. For more information, please see their flyer here or contact them at aidenforrestmiki@gmail.com.
