A Message From the Newcastle PTSA The Newcastle Elementary PTSA stands behind its mission to partner with our families, community, teachers and staff to enrich the educational experience of EVERY child at Newcastle. We recognize that we cannot do this without helping to ensure the life experience of every child is one that enables them to take full advantage of educational opportunities, which means standing up to and fighting against racism and racial injustice. One of the beautiful things about our Newcastle Elementary community is its diversity. We as a PTSA pledge to honor this diversity, promote a culture of respect, equality and inclusiveness, and to advocate for every child at Newcastle, within our schools, within our communities and at the local, state and national levels. Talking to our children about race and injustice can be difficult, but it is essential in order to affect change. Here we’re providing some resources to help you start or continue these crucial conversations. For younger kids, here’s one way to start - this Saturday at 7am PST, Sesame Street and CNN are holding a Town Hall for kids and families – Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism. Tune in live or record it and watch and discuss as a family. Additional resources for all ages can be found here.
