Save The Dates For Upcoming PTSA Events
Thank You Newcastle Families! Due to the incredible generosity of our Newcastle community, over $4000 was raised to help send our teachers to Columbia University's Teachers' College in March. Our staff definitely feels the love! And congratulations to the Worzella family who won the Hyatt gift certificate. ![]() ![]() It's Orange Ruler Time! What is the Orange Ruler!
Orange Ruler is a school fundraiser that allows our students to get involved raising money for our PTSA and school while also competing in a Fun Run. The event kicks off in May and allows us to raise money in the years in which we don't hold an auction. The kids also love it!
Why do we need a fundraiser? Don't our taxes pay for education?
The property taxes we pay to the State of Washington fund a basic education for our kids. The Issaquah School District ranks 257th out of 295 school districts in WA in terms of funding from the state. All of the "extras" that help create an exceptional educational experience, the one we want our kids to have, come from funds raised through the PTSA. Wondering what exactly the PTSA funds?Take a look at the pie chart of our 2019/2020 funding and visit {here} for more detail.
![]() We can't do the Orange Ruler Fun Run or fund these great programs without you. We rely on parent volunteers to reduce the overhead needed to make this fundraiser a huge success. Please take a look at the Sign-Up Genius link - you can help as little or as much as you want - from placing a few phone calls to attending the kids' lunch period to organizing the Fun Run. There will be a volunteer kick-off meeting in March. Questions? Please email alibligh@gmail.com. Thank you so much!!

And if you haven't done so yet, join the PTSA {here} and help us fund these great programs.
![]() We Still Need Yearbook Photos We are in need of candid photos of your children for the 2019-2020 Newcastle yearbook. You can submit photos of your kids to our Yearbook Chair, Jessica Anderson, at jessiej0608@gmail.com. All photos should be of Newcastle students on school grounds or at school sponsored events or clubs (such as the Costume Carnival, Chorus, etc). Please be aware that the photos need to be at least 750KB or the resolution will be too low for the yearbook. Deadline for submission is Friday, March 20.![]() Issaquah Schools Foundation News Help!
