If you are unable to bring these items, please consider making a donation to the food bank. Please email Rebecca Nguyen at rebeccaaludwig@hotmail.com with any questions.

Lunch for the Break

Do you need extra help with food for your school-aged children during the mid-winter break? Lunch for the Break is a program offered by the Issaquah Food Bank to provide a week's worth of free produce and non-perishable items for students to be able to prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for themselves. Lunch for the Break is available to all families with school-aged children within the Issaquah School District, or the food bank service area zip codes (98027, 98029, 98074, 98059).

It takes place on Friday, February 11th from 11am–4pm at the front door of the Food Bank (179 1st Ave SE, Issaquah). You must register to participate (even if you have previously participated in past Lunch for the Break programs). Once registered you’ll be emailed a 2-hour block of time in which you’ll be scheduled to pick up your items. This is to help alleviate traffic congestion.

Families can register online HERE. Registration closes the morning of February 9.

Join the PTSA Executive Board for the 2022-2023 School Year

Congratulations and thank you to Rebecca Nguyen, Whitney Walker, & Farah Alvi as they were voted in as our PTSA Nominating Committee at our meeting on December 6th. They will be charged with identifying candidates to help us fill open positions on our PTSA Executive Board for the 2022/2023 school year.

Would you like to help set the direction for the PTSA? Want to be more “in the know” about what happens at school? Interested in meeting new people? All while working in service of our students? Then please consider joining our PTSA Executive Board. We’re made up of parents from all different backgrounds and experiences, just like our community. We have moms, a dad, parents who work full-time and part-time, and parents who don’t work outside the home. There’s a place for everyone. You can learn more about the various roles on the Board and the time commitment (typically less than 3-5 hours per month) HEREIf you’re interested in learning more or have someone you think would be great on the board, please contact Rebecca Nguyen (part of our Nominating Committee) at rebeccaaludwig@hotmail.com.

Student Academic Grants

To improve accessibility to academic support services, the Foundation is offering grants for students who need help paying for tutoring and other professional academic assistance programs. This academic grant program is available to Issaquah School District students and will be awarded up to $500 per student. The deadline to apply is February 14. Details and application can be found HERE.

Levy Information

Our current levy will expire December 31, 2022. The School Board approved to have the renewal levy on the ballot in April. Ballots will be due April 26th. This levy must pass in order to continue programs for our 2022-2023 school year and beyond (this is a 4 year levy, so will fund through 2026). Click HERE for a list of what is funded by our local Issaquah School District Levies.

The ISD Levy Development Committee is made up of representatives from every school, local business representatives, and community members are meeting from December 2021 to January 2022 to form a recommendation for a levy package for 2022 ballot measures. The committee will present its recommendation to Superintendent Ron Thiele, who will bring the final recommendation to the Issaquah School Board for approval at the Jan. 27, 2022 School Board Meeting. The Levy Development Committee will consider the proposed content, total cost and tax impact of three ballot measures: an Educational Programs and Operations Levy (formerly called the Maintenance and Operations Levy), a Capital (Technology and Critical Repairs) Levy, and a Transportation (Bus) Levy. Click HERE for information, agendas, notes, and details.

Feedback for the committee: For any comments or questions about the levy package, please email Levy2022@issaquah.wednet.edu. All comments will be shared with the committee members for discussion.
