PTSA Membership Meeting/Principal Chat

Please join us for our membership meeting on Wednesday, January 11th, @ 7:00p in the Newcastle School Library. You do not need to be a member to attend, but in order to vote, membership is required. If you would like to join the PTSA please do so HERE!

Join the PTSA Board for 2022-2023

Thank you to Whitney Walker, Dana Kinghorn and Alice Kim as they will be voted in as our PTSA Nominating Committee at our meeting on January 11th. They will be charged with identifying candidates to help us fill open positions on our PTSA Executive Board for the 2023/2024 school year.

Would you like to help set the direction for the PTSA? Want to be more “in the know” about what happens at school? Interested in meeting new people? All while working in service of our students? Then please consider joining our PTSA Executive Board. We’re made up of parents from all different backgrounds and experiences, just like our community. We have caregivers who work full-time and part-time, and those who do not work outside the home. There’s a place for everyone. You can learn more about the various roles on the Board and the time commitment (typically less than 3-5 hours per month) HERE. If you’re interested in learning more or have someone you think would be great on the board, please contact Whitney Walker at whitneywalker@hotmail.com

Teacher Art Nooks by PTSA

THANK YOU to our amazing volunteer, Roya Williams for coordinating with our teachers for their very own art nook, funded by the PTSA! This is one of two for teachers to use for their classrooms. Special thanks to Ms. Afman for the idea! 🎨🖌️🖼️ Check out a short video of one of the areas HERE

The PTSA is YOU! It’s our students, teachers & staff and families. We are a community of volunteers working together to enrich the lives of our students.

Thank you to those that have joined this year! If you have not joined, you still can! Remember, you do need to renew your membership every school year. If you are not sure if you’ve joined, or would like to verify, log into newcastleptsa.org and go to “My Account.” Look under “Orders” and see if “Membership” is listed under “Items.”

Bronze Membership Award

Washington State PTA Recognizes Newcastle Elementary PTSA with the Bronze Membership Growth Award. Newcastle Elementary PTSA has recently been recognized by Washington State PTA as a Bronze Membership Growth Award recipient! PTAs are presented with this award for growing our membership compared to last year's numbers. That means our PTA's voice has become louder and stronger in support of our children. Thank you to everyone who has become a member so far this year: YOU are the reason our PTA achieved this award! If you haven’t yet signed up for 2022-23, please consider joining today! By doing so, you are demonstrating your support for our PTA and all it does for Newcastle Elementary. Thank you! Link to join is HERE.

Popcorn Fridays!

Some of you may remember we used to have Popcorn Fridays during recess. Since COVID, we have had our popcorn machine in our storage bin and when we took it out, it was beyond repair. Your PTSA purchased a BRAND NEW popcorn machine and is working hard to bring back this fun and much-loved activity! We are planning Popcorn Fridays to resume on Friday, January 20th. Details on which recesses this will be, in addition to a volunteer sign up will be coming soon. In the past, popcorn cost $0.25. This year, your PTSA has this covered and it will be FREE FOR ALL!

Join Dr. Damour and Reena Ninan as they share clear, research-informed explanations alongside illuminating, real-life examples, giving parents the concrete, practical information they need to steady their children through the bumpy yet transformational journey into adulthood.
