 The Multi-Cultural Family Fair is Coming! The Newcastle PTSA is excited to announce that the Newcastle Multi-Cultural Family Fair has returned! The Newcastle Elementary PTSA invites your family to come and experience the many cultures from around the world at the return of our Annual Cultural Fair. Come Travel to Different Countries! *Taste Foods *Hear Languages *Explore Customs and Culture *Learn History *Power packed performance by our own students and Family and have super Fun !!! There will be interactive booths, games, crafts, performances and a cultural fashion parade all featuring our very own school families. Thank you to Whitney Walker, Dana Kinghorn and Alice Kim as they were voted in as our PTSA Nominating Committee at our meeting on January 11. Their job is to identify candidates to help us fill open positions on our PTSA Executive Board for the 2023/2024 school year.
Would you like to help set the direction for the PTSA? Want to be more “in the know” about what happens at school? Interested in meeting new people? All while working in service of our students? Then please consider joining our PTSA Executive Board. We’re made up of parents from all different backgrounds and experiences, just like our community. We have caregivers who work full-time and part-time, and those who do not work outside the home. There’s a place for everyone. You can learn more about the various roles on the Board and the time commitment (typically less than 3-5 hours per month) HERE. If you’re interested in learning more or have someone you think would be great on the board, please contact Whitney Walker at whitneywalker@hotmail.com.
The VOICE Mentor Program is in need of volunteers!
Listen to what Mary Vickers, our PTSA president and VOICE mentor volunteer has to say about this program: “For the past year and a half I have been a mentor to a boy at Newcastle Elementary. Once a week I meet with my mentee to play games, help with school or just talk and have fun. Over time, we have developed a trusting relationship that hopefully helps improve my mentee’s resilience, self-confidence, self-advocacy and other social and emotional skills. As you know, skills such as the ability to manage one’s emotions, knowing how to create and cultivate relationships and being able to positively interact with others are important for school and life success.” Click HERE or reach out to voice@issaquah.wednet.edu for more information. Popcorn Fridays! Some of you may remember we used to have Popcorn Fridays during recess. Since COVID, we have had our popcorn machine in our storage bin and when we took it out, it was beyond repair. Your PTSA purchased a BRAND NEW popcorn machine and is working hard to bring back this fun and much-loved activity! We are planning Popcorn Fridays to resume on Friday, January 20th, during lunch recess! Volunteer sign up will be coming soon via room rep emails. In the past, popcorn cost $0.25. This year, your PTSA has this covered and it will be FREE FOR ALL!
Lost & Found
The Lost and Found is overflowing. Be sure and check for your students jackets, water bottles, lunch bags, etc. We will be preparing to send everything out for donations. Please be sure and label all your students items as this helps us get the items back to your student.
