Our Nominating Committee has been diligently working to fill our PTSA Executive Board for the 2023-2024 school year. There are still some positions available.
Please consider joining and being "in the know" about what happens at school. You will meet new people, all while working in service of our students and staff! We’re made up of parents from all different backgrounds and experiences, just like our community. We have caregivers who work full-time and part-time, and those who do not work outside the home. There’s a place for everyone.
You can learn more about the various roles on the Board and the time commitment (typically less than 3-5 hours per month) HERE. If you’re interested in learning more or have someone you think would be great on the board, please contact Whitney Walker at whitneywalker@hotmail.com.

Buddy Bench
Did you know our playground has a Buddy Bench? It sits by the new playground and is utilized by all grades. It is there to help kids who may be struggling with loneliness or feelings of exclusion by their peers. It gives them a chance to voice their problems, find a new friend, or feel noticed. The benefits are not solely for the struggling child. It also teaches empathy. If a child sees one of their peers sitting on the Buddy Bench, they’re given an opportunity to act. They’re helping someone in need and making a classmate feel loved and seen. On top of that, they’re learning leadership skills, social skills and developing a sense of empathy that will last them a lifetime. We ask that you take a moment to ask your student if they know about this bench and how they may feel or act if they saw someone sitting there. Thank you for helping us spread the word of this important playground tool. Spirit Day Fridays
Friendly reminder that every Friday is SPIRIT DAY! What is Spirit Day? It's an opportunity to show your school spirit! You can either wear any Newcastle Elementary spirit wear you have, or school colors (green and yellow) or your favorite sports team emblems/colors!
