Lunch for the Break

Lunch for the Break provides nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack options for children attending school in the Issaquah School District. The program helps alleviate hunger during school breaks by providing a week's worth of free grocery items for students to be able to prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for themselves.

The next Lunch for the Break will be Thursday, April 6, 1:00 - 7:00 pm.

Shopping takes place at the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank. Shopping times may be assigned to help minimize wait times.

Families can choose from a variety of produce, dairy, proteins, snacks and other kid-friendly breakfast/lunch non-perishable items.

Please REGISTER HERE before 5:00 pm on Monday, April 3.

Final Chance for Yearbooks!

Don’t miss out on the 2022-2023 yearbook for your student! If you did not purchase a yearbook for your child earlier in the school year, it’s not too late - but time is running out!

To purchase: go to http://newcastleptsa.org/Home and click on the ‘yearbook’ icon in the left column list and follow the prompts to complete your purchase.

Each copy is $26. The final deadline to order is Wednesday, April 5

Note: If you do not remember if you have already ordered a copy, go to the PTSA website, click on ‘my account’, log in, and go to “current orders”.  A confirmation of your purchase will appear on that screen.

Taproot Theater

The PTSA was thrilled to bring back Taproot Theatre Company and their production of "Bugs!" Their touring productions equip students with the skills they need to stand up to bullying, solve problems and form lasting friendships. Taproot Theatre Company has toured educational plays to students since 1985 and reaches more than 100,000 students annually. TTC is a member of Theatre Puget Sound and Theatre Communications Group, the national service organization for nonprofit professional theaters. Founded in 1976, TTC tells stories of hope, serving the Pacific Northwest through live theatre and educational programs. We hope your student's enjoyed their performance!

From our Librarian, Mrs. Snyder - Author Visits!

Thanks to the generosity of the PTSA, our school is having TWO authors visit us this month!

Students in grades TK-3 will have a zoom meeting with author and illustrator Adam Rex, who has written and illustrated more than 40 children's books. We are reading his books in the library and in our homerooms and can't wait to see him on Tuesday, March 21st!

Students in grades 3-5 will have a visit with local author, Dan Gemeinhart, on Monday, March 27th. He is the author of SIX wonderful chapter books. After an assembly in the MPR with the students, he will be meeting with each 5th grade class for a writing workshop.

*If your child owns a Dan Gemeinhart book, he/she can bring it to the library on Friday, March 24th. He will sign it when he is here on the 27th! Please just one book per child, and please put a sticky note on the cover with both the student and teacher’s name.

Thank you to the PTSA for these wonderful opportunities!
