The Newcastle PTSA is proud to sponsor the 7th year of the Art Docent program. The objective of this program is to
provide the children with opportunities to explore their artistic talents and to expand their knowledge of art through fun and creative projects. This is volunteer- led art instruction that takes place once a month in the classroom. Children get to experiment with different mediums, including paint, glass, clay and pastels while learning about different art elements. They become familiar with the works of major European artists, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Rousseau and Edvard Munch, as well as North American ones, such as Jim Dine, George Rodrigue and Dale Chihuly. Below are images of some of the children's work.
