Fall Costume Carnival (Fall Festival Co-Chair)
Help plan one of the most fun PTSA events of the entire year! The Fall Festival is a family wide event held at the school in October. The Co-Chairs plan and execute the overall event and recruit many volunteers to help. Prior year Chair is available to assist so you will not be doing it alone. The VP(s) of Programs plan our after-school family events, and coordinates after-school enrichment programs.They make sure that our Lion Art Chairs, and popcorn chair have everything they need to run the program. Family events can include programs like the Costume Carnival, Multicultural Family Night, Movie Nights, Stem Night, and Spring Fling. The after-school enrichment programs include: chess club, public speaking, spanish classes, and robotics. Time commitment: 3 hours per week.

Sunshine Committee (Chair)
As an integral part of our school community, the Sunshine Committee provides a "ray of sunshine" to any Newcastle family that may need some brightening to their day. We are there to provide a gesture of kindness that will help to bring a smile during what may be a difficult time (prolonged illness, surgery, etc). In the form of a card, we are there to show that we care. Please contact our VPs of Outreach if you feel there is someone in our school community who could use some sunshine.

Coordinate with the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank to pick up snacks or food for the kids who have food insecurity at home. This is done over the weekend or during a school break. The school social worker lets the food bank know how many students need this. Discretion is a MUST.

Family And Community Engagement: Coordinates Cultural Ambassadors to welcome families and help with translations of school information. Works together with the Registrar of the school office to welcome and assist families. The Issaquah Schools Foundation is a private nonprofit organization was formed to raise funds for Issaquah School District educational goals not otherwise be funded by regular school funding. The funds are generated through fundraisers: All in for Kids/ Click for Kids and the Nourish Every Mind Spring Luncheon. FLL After School Robotics Program (FLL Parent Advisor)
The FLL Parent Advisor oversees all Newcastle Teams, providing a productive learning environment. The Parent Advisor will not have their own team to coach, but they are welcome to still support teams throughout meetings. They will be deemed "Head Mentor" of all Newcastle teams and will have unlimited support from the Head Mentor of Liberty Robotics Club). NOTICE: The Newcastle FLL Parent Advisor must pass YPP training & be approved as a volunteer in the ISD. Days & hours to commit: Tuesdays from 1.5 3:45 PM - 5:00 PM) Duration: SEP 2025 to mid DEC 2025. FLL (First Lego League) is the 4th-8th grade robotics competition where students are given a challenge and 3 months to build and program a LEGO robot that can complete tasks specified in the challenge. Students learn basic programming, building skills, and problem solving.

Parent coaches help guide FLL (First Lego League) students through the season by creating a supportive learning environment. Parent coaches may offer support to their team through non-technical advice (facilitating conversations to help complete research project) and technical advice (assisting with the robot code). Parent coaches do NOT have to be experts in robotics to be a parent coach. Teams will consist of 2 Parent Coaches and 2 High School mentors. NOTICE: The Newcastle FLL Parent Coaches must pass YPP training & fill out a form to be approved as a volunteer in the ISD. Days & hours to commit: Afterschool Tuesdays at Newcastle Elementary, ~1.5 hours per meeting (3:45 PM - 5:00 PM) Duration: 13 weeks total, early September 2025 to mid December 2025.
