There was definitely Magic in the Air on Friday, March 10th! Thanks to the hard work of our dedicated volunteers and the generosity of our school community, we were able to raise a significant amount of funds to support our school programs.
We are pleased to report that we raised approximately $150,000! These funds will be used to support various programs such as classroom supplies, extracurricular activities, and educational field trips. More importantly, our Raise the Paddle enables us to bring the program, Playworks, for the 2023-2024 school year! Playworks is the leading national non-profit using play to transform schools. We are proud to partner with Playworks to make recess a fun, inclusive time for every student in our community. A Playworks recess creates a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active, and build valuable social and emotional skills.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the event a success. They spent countless hours soliciting donations, organizing the event, and helping on the day of the auction. Without their hard work, this event would not have been possible.

We also want to thank all the parents and community members who donated items, purchased tickets, and bid on items. Your support is greatly appreciated, and your generosity will make a significant impact on our school programs.

As we approach our upcoming elementary school auction, we wanted to reach out and encourage your participation in helping us set up for this exciting event. As you know, our auction is an essential fundraising event for our school, and it would not be possible without the support and dedication of our community. There are many ways you can get involved and help us make this year's auction a huge success.
We are currently seeking volunteers to help with the set-up of the auction. This includes tasks such as decorating, arranging auction items, and preparing the event space. We understand that everyone has busy schedules and commitments, but we hope you can find some time to support our school and help us make this event a success. By volunteering your time, you are not only making a difference in the lives of our students, but you are also contributing to the betterment of our school community as a whole.

We are excited to announce Newcastle Elementary will be teaming up with Playworks for the 2023-2024 school year! Playworks is the leading national non-profit using play to transform schools. We are proud to partner with PLAYWORKS to make recess a fun, inclusive time for every student in our community. A Playworks recess creates a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active, and build valuable social and emotional skills.
We will work in partnership with Playworks to launch the TEAM UP program. Our Playworks site coordinator will spend one week out of every month at our school to train, build and sustain a high-functioning recess. Our recess team staff will implement these new strategies to help all students at Newcastle Elementary experience safe and healthy play every day.

Did you know that Newcastle Elementary school's biannual auction is our biggest fundraiser? It funds our PTSA for two years! Our new playground, the GaGa ball pit, and playground equipment, as well as the many programs and supportive services we offer, are just a fraction of the items it has funded in the past. We are in desperate need of volunteers or the auction may not be able to happen this year.

This year’s theme is There’s Magic in the Air Tonight. This theme defines the spirit of Disney’s Princess and the Frog film. Set in New Orleans during the 1920’s, the film tells a story of perseverance, optimism, hard work, devotion, magic and love.

Every two years, the Newcastle Elementary PTSA holds a fundraising auction to raise money to support our students – money that is necessary in today’s climate of state funding shortfalls made worse by the impact on budgeting and staffing issues because of COVID. This biennial event kicks off with a holiday online auction in December 2022 and culminates with a fabulous evening at the Hyatt Regency South Lake Washington on March 10, 2023, where we will have our silent and live auction, games and more. More than 400 parents, staff and community friends attend this memorable event and it is because of everyone’s participation that we’re able to help bridge the fundraising gap by providing art education, reading and math support, as well as new technology and safety measures to more than 500 students each year.
Due to the COVID pandemic, this will be our first live auction since the 2018-2019 school year, and we could not be more excited!
