 Buddy Bench Makeover
Did you know our playground has a Buddy Bench? It sits by the new playground and is utilized by all grades. It is there to help kids who may be struggling with loneliness or feelings of exclusion by their peers. It gives them a chance to voice their problems, find a new friend, or feel noticed. The benefits are not solely for the struggling child. It also teaches empathy. If a child sees one of their peers sitting on the Buddy Bench, they’re given an opportunity to act. They’re helping someone in need and making a classmate feel loved and seen. On top of that, they’re learning leadership skills, social skills and developing a sense of empathy that will last them a lifetime. Our wonderful Buddy Bench was looking very worn. While volunteering for recess help, a parent noticed this and enlisted the PTSA for help! Thankfully, the O’Donoghue family stepped up and donated supplies and their time to bring it back to life! Thank you and we hope your kiddos find this bench helpful!
