PTSA Membership Drive February 7 - 28
Our Winter Membership Drive has commenced! The Newcastle PTSA Membership Drive starts TODAY and ends Monday February 28th. Membership does need to be renewed every year. If you have not signed up, we need your help! Membership per family costs $25. Every member counts! Together we can help strengthen Newcastle PTSA voice and impact on our school community.
Membership scholarships are available, just send an email to newcastleptsa@gmail.com, (no questions asked). Please visit newcastleptsa.org to join! Car magnets available to those who sign up (while supplies last, one per family). There are PRIZES to be won for your child(ren)’s classrooms! Check them out!
Yearbook Photos Needed The yearbook could use your photos! Email any photos you may have taken to our yearbook chair, Jessica Anderson, at jessiej0608@gmail.com. Please include: Student's Name, Grade/Teacher, Category. Ideas of photos to send:

 Food Drive January 31 - February 11
Bins are out in front of the school to receive items for the Issaquah Food Bank in need of specific items below:
Cereal, White Rice (1-2 lb bags only please), Ramen, Canned Tuna, Canned Chicken, Protein Bars, Hearty Soups (Progresso, Campbell's Chunky, etc.), Pancake Mix (regular and gluten free), Sugar (5 lb bags only), Coffee (ground, regular not decaf), Condiments (specifically regular size bottles of ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, jelly/jam), Diapers (sizes newborn, 1, 2, 3), Baby Wipes, Bar Soap, Deodorant

 Join the PTSA Executive Board for the 2022-2023 School Year
Would you like to help set the direction for the PTSA? Want to be more “in the know” about what happens at school? Interested in meeting new people? All while working in service of our students? Then please consider joining our PTSA Executive Board. We’re made up of parents from all different backgrounds and experiences, just like our community. We have moms, a dad, parents who work full-time and part-time, and parents who don’t work outside the home. There’s a place for everyone. You can learn more about the various roles on the Board and the time commitment (typically less than 3-5 hours per month) HERE. If you’re interested in learning more or have someone you think would be great on the board, please contact Rebecca Nguyen (part of our Nominating Committee) at rebeccaaludwig@hotmail.com.

Fifth Grade Transition Night for New Families
If you are new to the U.S. or would like to know more about the U.S. middle school system, there will be a 5th grade transition to middle school general information event on Wednesday, February 16th, from 6:30p - 8:00p. Student Academic Grants
To improve accessibility to academic support services, the Foundation is offering grants for students who need help paying for tutoring and other professional academic assistance programs. This academic grant program is available to Issaquah School District students and will be awarded up to $500 per student. The deadline to apply is February 14. Details and application can be found HERE.
Levy Information
Our current levy will expire December 31, 2022. The School Board approved to have the renewal levy on the ballot in April. Ballots will be due April 26th. This levy must pass in order to continue programs for our 2022-2023 school year and beyond (this is a 4 year levy, so will fund through 2026). Click HERE for a list of what is funded by our local Issaquah School District Levies.
The ISD Levy Development Committee is made up of representatives from every school, local business representatives, and community members are meeting from December 2021 to January 2022 to form a recommendation for a levy package for 2022 ballot measures. The committee will present its recommendation to Superintendent Ron Thiele, who will bring the final recommendation to the Issaquah School Board for approval at the Jan. 27, 2022 School Board Meeting. The Levy Development Committee will consider the proposed content, total cost and tax impact of three ballot measures: an Educational Programs and Operations Levy (formerly called the Maintenance and Operations Levy), a Capital (Technology and Critical Repairs) Levy, and a Transportation (Bus) Levy.
