Staff Appreciation
Our staff appreciation week was a great success! We hope they all felt the love our community has for each and every one of them, not just last week but every day.
Thank you to the families who donated food, flowers or a kind note to the staff. A very big thank you to our chair, Ellie Diaz (yes, the same auction chair Ellie Diaz), Janis Yu, Taryn Bailey and Alice Kim for their collaboration and implementation on this wonderful week!
   Movie Night for TK-2nd
THIS Friday, May 19th, at 6:30pm is our movie night for TK, Kinder, 1st and 2nd grades! The event will take place in the cafeteria. Feel free to come dressed in your jammies or comfy clothes and bring your favorite stuffed animal and/or blanket and pillow! We will have mats on the floor for a picnic-style set up and chairs for the grown ups. Bring your own drinks and snacks, but popcorn will be provided! If you are interested in helping with popcorn, set up and/or takedown, please contact our VP of Programs, Bisa Meek at bisameek@gmail.com. Movies will be voted on by classrooms this week so stay tuned! Please note: This is a family event and caregivers will need to remain with their students for the duration of the evening.  Lost and Found Our Lost & Found is overflowing! Have your student ensure nothing in there belongs to them. Please make sure your student is coming to school with jackets, sweaters, hats, etc that are clearly labeled, with their name and teacher. We do go through them and try to return them to the rightful owner, however, we will be donating all leftover items.
Spirit Week Join us for Spirit Week June 5th - 9th, organized by the Spirit Team at Newcastle! Monday: It's a Jungle Out There. Dress in camouflage, animal prints or safari-wear clothes! Tuesday: The Sky's The Limit. Wear what's in the sky - rainbows, clouds, planes and more! Wednesday: Newcastle Lion Day. Wear your favorite Newcastle Lion apparel, lion shirts, or green and yellow colors! Thursday: Space The Final Frontier. Wear your Star Wars, NASA, planet or space attire! Friday: Under the Sea Walk. Dress like you are going to play in the water - a mermaid, a sea animal, or your favorite water sport activity!
Green Team
Newcastle is grateful for our Green Team! Mr. Bland and Mrs. Burnham teach our students the importance of learning what our role is to protect the earth. They outreach the school and community, collect used markers/glue bottles from classrooms for recycling, make posters for school awareness and for sorting waste/recycle/compost, and beautify our school!
