ALL volunteers must have an approved application through the Issaquah School District each school year. In a typical school year, ISD welcomes as many as 9,000 volunteers into our schools. Reviewing and approving volunteer applications may take up to three weeks.

Join the 2023-2024 PTSA Today and Celebrate Almost 20 Years of Lion Pride!

The PTSA has been with Newcastle Elementary since its doors opened almost 20 years ago, providing the funding and programs to enrich the educational experience to our children.

PTSA Membership helps fund critical school programs such as:

  • In-classroom monthly art curriculum and art supplies.
  • Family events like Costume Carnival, Science Fair and Multicultural Night.
  • Teacher allotments for classroom books, supplies or special class events.
  • Community outreach like the holiday toy drive, movie nights, and lunch for the break.
  • Yearbooks, Book Fairs, and much more!
  • An expanded and updated playground in 2019!

Our ability to deliver an exceptional educational experience at Newcastle depends upon EVERYONE. It takes nearly $300 per student to fund PTSA programs for a year. Every dollar makes a difference!

Make your voice heard and become a member today. For the 2023/2024 school year, a family (2-adult) membership costs $25 or $15 for an individual membership.

Kinder Connect Playdate #2

Get Ready! Get Set! Let’s GO into Kindergarten with Playdate #2!

Incoming Kindergarten Families,

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for playdate #1 at Lake Boren Park. It was wonderful to meet you!

If you weren’t able to attend, don't fret! There is another opportunity to meet other kindergarten families on Saturday, August 26th, from 11am-1pm at the Newcastle Elementary Playground. We look forward to seeing y’all there!
Parking in the bus loop will be permitted, but only for this event.

Also, for the first day of school on Friday, September 1st, Kindergarten will be having a brief get together for parents in the courtyard after school morning drop off. We will have bagels (or pastries) and coffee. Please email through KinderConnect (newcastlekinderconnect@gmail.com) if you will be able to attend so they have enough nosh - and tissues for those of us who may shed a tear as our cubs leave the den!

Our incoming Kindergartners require some support learning the new routine during the first two weeks of the year, and volunteers are needed in the cafeteria and at recess. If you are able to help out during these next few weeks,  we encourage you to submit your application with the district now. It can take up to two weeks or longer to get everything processed. You can get started HERE.

Volunteer Spotlight - Kinder Connect

Let’s get to know some of our Kinder Connect co-chairs, Emily & Richard Olstein! Thank you, Olstein family for your time and dedication to our community!

“We are the Olstein Family. We have a son at Liberty High School, an incoming kindergarten boy (who is so excited to be a part of Newcastle Elementary), and a daughter who is in Pre-K. After moving into this community in 2021, we all feel that we have found a home here.

We love the outdoors. We love to hike and be outside in our backyard. Any and all fresh air is so nice, especially in the wonderful Seattle summers. Since we’re relatively new to the area we are soaking up all Washington has to offer. We love going on local weekend adventures.

In a world that demands so much from our schools and teachers, I am grateful for the opportunity to help build an educational environment that supports all students.

Whether it is a small ask from a single teacher or a school wide event, PTA steps up to meet the need. When children look around and see parents, faculty, and administrators working together to make their school successful, it sends a clear message that they matter and their education matters!  Working  as part of the PTA is a wonderful way to participate in and support the connections for our children and our community.”

Read about some of our Kinder Connect co-chairs, Andry & Alexandria! Thank you for your service to our school!

"We are Alex and Andrey, new PTSA volunteers this year. Our family has been living in the Seattle area since the early 2000s, and we are thrilled to call the Pacific Northwest home. Our kids, Chloe & Aidan, are very excited to start kindergarten and middle school, respectively, this fall!

Our free time is spent traveling near and far, exploring diverse cuisines of greater Seattle, and plenty of kids’ activities such as baseball, biking, playing piano and dancing! We have many relatives in the surrounding area and enjoy participating in extended family events like camping, boating, and other outdoor activities.

We believe that the PTA, in partnership with the school district, completes a supportive growth environment around our children, allows families to be more involved in the community and to shape all of our children’s education."
