Join the 2023-2024 PTSA Today and Celebrate Almost 20 Years of Lion Pride!

The PTSA has been with Newcastle Elementary since its doors opened almost 20 years ago, providing the funding and programs to enrich the educational experience to our children.

PTSA Membership helps fund critical school programs such as:

  • In-classroom monthly art curriculum and art supplies.
  • Family events like Costume Carnival, Science Fair and Multicultural Night.
  • Teacher allotments for classroom books, supplies or special class events.
  • Community outreach like the holiday toy drive, movie nights, and lunch for the break.
  • Yearbooks, Book Fairs, and much more!
  • An expanded and updated playground in 2019!

Our ability to deliver an exceptional educational experience at Newcastle depends upon EVERYONE. It takes nearly $300 per student to fund PTSA programs for a year. Every dollar makes a difference!

Make your voice heard and become a member today. For the 2023/2024 school year, a family (2-adult) membership costs $25 or $15 for an individual membership.

Together we can enrich the educational experience for every family at Newcastle!

Kinder Connect

Our PTSA sponsored Kinder Connect playdate #2 was a great success! Mr. Porter, our Dean of Students as well as Mr. Miller, our PE teacher, stopped by to say hello! Students were able to see who would be in their class and enjoyed some snacks and took home their very own mini Leo the Lion with a poem about the first day written by our very own Emily Olstein, one of our Kinder Connect chairs!

I am Leo, the lion
Big and brave
But the truth is
I wasn't
Always this way
I once was a cub
And the world was so large
Hyenas cackled and wildebeest charged

I was the tiniest one in my pride
I tried to roar, but the roar stayed inside!
All that came out was a little * meow *
There was so much to learn
Would I ever know how?

Would I make friends?
Would my teachers be kind?
So many questions ran through my mind!
Before kindergarten started,
I shed a few tears
A whole day at school
might seem like ten years!

Well, I'm glad to report
that the school day sped by
There was recess and lunch and group storytime.
I learned how to count and read and... ROAR!
There are so many good things to go to school for!
There are new friends to meet,
and new games to play
It's normal to feel jitters
Especially on the first day
So if you need assurance, just give me a squeeze
We Newcastle Lions are a most special breed!

Here is a little video of the playdate. Thank you to our chairs, Andry Tychkin & Alexandria Tang and Emily & Richard Olstein!

First Two Weeks of School Volunteers

Do you love the energy of the first day of school or wish you could be there to help the kids? We're looking for volunteers to be at school for about 15 minutes in the mornings to greet students when they arrive and help find their teachers and classrooms, help at lunch and recess as well as assist with the after school procedures.

Volunteer for any number of days that work with your schedule. If you're interested, please sign up HERE and make sure that you're approved to volunteer through the Issaquah School District. You can fill out that form HERE

Calling all Angels!

Did you know that Newcastle Elementary has an Angel Program that exists to support our families impacted by financial hardship? Our school counselor assists these families in identifying community resources. Volunteers within Newcastle Elementary fulfill additional family requests. Each of our families/students and volunteers remain anonymous.

Be Brave.
Privacy of all requests will be respected. From a winter coat to school supplies, rain boots to a birthday gift, our substitute school counselor, Carla Geraci, is available to help in a time of need. Please send an email to
MutterK@issaquah.wednet.edu or call (425) 837-5817.

Be an Angel. Become an Angel Donor.
Angel Donors directly impact the health and well-being of Newcastle students. Anyone can be an Angel Donor by shopping, purchasing and/or delivering requests. Email newcastleptsa.angel@gmail.com for inquiries.

Be a Model.
Demonstrate to your student the importance of giving and receiving. Be the foundation and build a stronger community.
