Staff Appreciation Lunch by 4th and 5th Grade Families

Three times a year, the families of Newcastle Elementary host a luncheon for teachers and staff to show them how much we appreciate everything they do for our children. We ask the help of the 4th and 5th grade families to provide a delicious 'Crocktober' luncheon with comfort foods such as stews, soups, salads and more! Either homemade or store-bought! You can drop off anytime before 10:30am on Tuesday, October 24th. Link to sign up is HERE.

**Crockpots/Instant Pots welcome! Please label your pots/casserole dishes on the bottom and you can pick them up anytime after the luncheon. We appreciate your participation and generosity!!

Fundraiser at MOD Pizza

Dine at MOD Pizza on Thursday, October 26th, and a portion goes to our PTSA! Easy peasy! Simply bring in the flyer below (will be disbursed closer to the date via kidmail) or order online with the coupon code provided on the flyer.

Spirit Wear Fridays!

Each Friday, we encourage everyone to show their school spirit! You can wear your Newcastle Spirit Wear, yellow/green, or your favorite sports team! Let's see that pride!

Membership Drive

It's Newcastle PTSA's annual membership drive!

Why do we have one? To try and get any families that may have forgotten to join or have not heard about joining the PTSA! The drive begins today and will complete on Friday, October 27th. Your membership does need to be renewed every year.

What if I do not have time to join? NO TIME REQUIRED! By joining, you are simply making a statement that you support your student's educational experience as well as the wonderful staff that make that possible! Our PTSA supports our students and staff with many programs such as Popcorn Friday, LionArt, yearbooks, spirit wear, Leo the Lion, teacher grants, playground and PE equipment, and so much more! Volunteering is optional but not a requirement.

What's in it for me?  Besides getting that feeling that you've done something wonderful for your student and their school community, we have gift cards to be won! $100 to: Tapatio, The Coalman, Frosty Barrel and Blazing Onion. We will have four drawings throughout the drive. Already joined? You're in the drawing! There are many perks you get by becoming a Washington State PTSA member. For example, you get great discounts to various fun activities in the community, such as Great Wolf Lodge! You also get a free school directory to stay in touch with friends throughout the year and into the summer! Have you seen green paws with the "N" on cars all over town? You get one as our thank you! Just email newcastleptsa.president@gmail.com to get yours once you've joined!

What's in it for my student? We will have classroom experiences for classes that reach the following percentages:

70% A visit with Leo the Lion and goodies!
80% A spirit day of class choosing (teacher approved)!
90% Silly String Dr. Wood!

Check our social media pages for up to date stats on where your classes are! Instagram: @newcastlelionsptsa

Membership per family costs $25, $15 for an individual. Every member counts! Together we can help strengthen Newcastle PTSA's voice and impact on our school community.

Membership scholarships are available. Please join HERE. If you are not sure if you have joined this year, email newcastleptsa.president@gmail.com.

Fall Festival Volunteers Needed

This event is provided by the Newcastle PTSA free of charge. We need some volunteers for our upcoming Fall Festival, taking place at Fletcher Farm on Friday, October 27th. The Fall Festival is a great opportunity to come help out and enjoy a fun filled evening on the farm.

When: Friday, October 27, 2023

Where: Fletcher Farm (18712 SE May Valley Rd, Issaquah, WA 98027)

Time: 5:30pm – 8:00pm  (set-up between 5:30pm – 6:00pm)

Registration. Volunteers are needed to assist our high-school volunteers as they check people in and hand out glow sticks.  We are also collecting $25 gift cards to Amazon, Fred Meyer, or Target that we will donate to the Issaquah Food bank to help families provide gifts for their children during the holidays.

Activities & Photo Station. Volunteers are needed to assist with activities inside Fletcher Farm. This will mainly be helping the high-school volunteers with farm activities and taking pictures at the photo stations placed throughout the farm.

Parking Lot. Volunteers are needed to help direct traffic in the parking lot. It gets pretty dark and we need to make sure everyone is safe. We will provide safety vests but would love volunteers to bring their own flashlights.

If you would like to volunteer, please reach out to our Fall Festival Chair, Nathalie Aholt, directly at nathalieAholt@gmail.com.

Playworks Parent Support

If you are interested in being a Parent Recess Coach with our new Playworks program, please attend an informational meeting and training session with Coach Casey from Playworks, Mr. Porter and our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Junior Coaches on Tuesday, October 17th, from 1:45pm-2:50pm. Check in at the front office. Please email Ellie Diaz at ellie_gian@yahoo.com if you are interested in volunteering.

Spring Fundraising Chair

We are in need of a chair to help lead our Spring Fundraiser! You will not be alone and the board will work with you. Please contact our Ways & Means Chair, Shellie Colby, at newcastleptsa.waysmeans@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about this program.

Lunch and Afternoon Recess Support

If you are approved to volunteer through the district, you are welcome to come to the school for your student’s recesses at any time. Be sure to check in at the front office to sign in and get your volunteer badge. Check out the Recess Schedule. Questions? Contact newcastleptsa.president@gmail.com.
