This is also your chance to give your child the gift of special time with teachers, Dr. Wood, Mr. Cornwall and others. Personalized yearbook pages for 4th graders are SOLD OUT, but parents of current 5th graders can still make special memories for the graduates. Cyber Monday! Join the PTSA and Win Your Student Some FUN! We currently have fewer than HALF the PTSA members as we had last year, which has a big impact on the programs we’re able to deliver for our students. Your PTSA membership dues go directly toward funding our Art curriculum, family events, teacher grants and more. Your membership also gives you BIG discounts with local businesses like MiaMax Jewelry, 44 Music School, Code Ninjas, and Youth Theatre Northwest. And membership requires NOTHING of you. Each GRADE that gets at least 10 new PTSA members by the end of December will win a Spirit Day on Friday, Jan. 8. And the class that ends December with the greatest percentage of families signed up will win a special surprise. Not yet a PTSA member and want to help your child and their classmates earn these fun prizes? JOIN TODAY, it only takes a few minutes. Your Child’s Art Could Be Our Yearbook Cover More information on buying yearbooks is coming in January, but in the meantime, we need cover art! You can find the submission form HERE. Simply print it out, have your child get to work, and return to the school by end of day Friday, Jan. 8. You can also drop off during the materials pick up on Jan. 7. Contact our yearbook chair, Jessica Anderson, at jessiej0608@gmail.com with questions or if you need a submission form delivered. We need pictures for the yearbook too! Help by sending us pictures of your child – first day of school, Halloween, holiday fun, the sky is the limit. The only rules are that the pictures should feature ONLY Newcastle students and be at least 750KB. Email pictures to jessiej0608@gmail.com and include child’s name and teacher. Celebrate Our Various Cultures with Special Art Projects One of the great things about our school is the variety of cultures represented amongst our families and we want to help you and your family explore and celebrate them via ART! Visit our ART PAGE and enjoy a library of information, crafts, and book lists about the many ways our families celebrate at home. We want to represent ALL of our students so if you have ideas of holidays, celebrations, traditions or events we could highlight, please send them to Bisa Meek at bisameek@gmail.com. We’ve set up a Padlet where you can share pictures of your family celebrating your holidays or enjoying any of the crafts. Post pictures and explore others HERE.
SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY NEWS Issaquah Schools Foundation Impact Scholarship Applications Open Available to high school juniors and seniors, the Issaquah Schools Foundation offers 2 scholarships, awarded to students who submit essays that describe how Issaquah Schools Foundation-funded programs have enriched their education. The scholarships are offered in two categories: Written ($1000) and Presentation ($1500). Information at: http://isfdn.org/impact-scholars. Application deadline is February 28, 2021.
