STEM Week is Coming NEXT WEEK! April 26-30

Join the PTSA as we explore the world of Science all week long! We’re featuring virtual events as well as a unique engineering competition. Watch your email later this week for more details on how to sign up. All events are FREE!

“Fizz. Pop. BOOM!” - Monday, April 26, 5:00-6:00pm

Join Mad Science as they present the spectacular “Fizz.Pop.BOOM!” Scientists study change. When conducting an experiment, they expect to see either a physical or chemical change. We’ll explore the signs of chemical change with things that fizz, pop, and sometimes, when done right, go BOOM! Register in advance for this meeting HERE and receive info for joining.

Exploring Ecology (the relationship of organisms to one another and their surroundings) - Tuesday, April 27, Time TBA

STEM Academy presents a LIVE Ecology experience for students of all ages. STEM Academy provides free, quality education to inspire minority youth to learn more about STEM careers.

Virtual Planetarium: Night Sky Tonight - Wednesday, April 28, 5:30-6:10pm

Become a true backyard astronomer. Learn how living on a giant spinning ball changes what can be seen each night, discover how to find constellations, and even how the sky can be used to find directions! Hosted by Pacific Science Center.

Hands on Science and Careers in STEM* - Thursday and Friday, April 29, 30, Time TBA

Hands on Science: Students will be able to follow along with simple but exciting experiments using supplies you have at home.

STEM Career Panels: Parent volunteers will talk about the wide variety of jobs in STEM and hold Q&A sessions with students.

*These sessions CANNOT happen without volunteers (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends). Please sign up HERE.

Want STEM Week To Continue Next Year? Register for the Auction Today (it costs NOTHING to register)!

The PTSA covers the cost of STEM Week, but only through money raised. If we want our students to have things like

  • Monthly Art instruction,
  • Access to innovative programs via Teacher Grants,
  • Academic Enrichment like Science Expo, Robotics, Spelling and Geography Bees,
  • Student and Family events like the Costume Carnival, Spring Fling, Movie Nights, and Back-to-School Events

Then we MUST raise money!

Our goal is to raise $125,000 so we can start next year with at least $200,000. We’ve raised $23,000 thus far so EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!

Activities kick off with our Silent Auction May 8-15 followed by a very special Virtual but LIVE gala on May 15 at 7pm. Hosted by Q13 reporter and the best auctioneer around, Matt Lorch, it’s sure to be an entertaining hour filled with live appearances, videos and MORE! It costs nothing to register and attend so register HERE today!

Need a reminder for why we’re raising money when schools aren’t fully open? Get all the details HERE.

Last Chance to Feature Your Student in Our Auction Video

Ask your child – “what are some of your favorite moments at Newcastle Elementary School (prior years too!) and what are you MOST looking forward to doing again?” Send us your pictures and/or a 1-10 second video letting us know, and maybe you'll see your child featured in the show! Submit to: AuctionNewcastle2021@gmail.com by April 21st.

LAST DAY to Drop Off for Food Drive is Thursday

Help us fill the EMERGENCY NEEDS of the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank. We’re trying to collect 1000lbs of non-perishable goods. Drop off in the bin in front of school (NOT DURING PICK UP OR DROP OFF) by April 22. See the FLYER for more details.
