Hearing and Vision Screening Volunteers

We need your help in assisting Jamie, our school's nurse, in conducting Vision and Hearing screening on Tuesday, November 1st, and Wednesday, November 2nd. You will be helping with audiometer machines, checking off students for vision, and guiding them from one station to another.

**Please ensure that you are approved to volunteer through the district. This process can take up to THREE weeks so please plan ahead and submit your application and have the approval ready before you check-in at the office for your volunteer slot. Vaccination records need to be submitted and Driver's License or Passport must not be expired. Another tip: Make sure to log out of your application page once it's completed. Otherwise, the application is floating and it doesn't go in the queue to be processed.

If you are approved by the district, you can sign up to help HERE. Questions? Please contact newcastleptsa.volunteers@gmail.com.

Lunch/Recess Volunteers

We have expanded recess support for all grades! If you are interested in assisting our paraprofessional staff on the playground (and hanging out with your kiddo), please consider signing up!

Remember, you must be approved through the district to volunteer at school. We recommend you do this immediately as it is taking a couple of weeks for the processing of applications. Link to submit your application is HERE

You can sign up for lunch/recess support HERE. Thank you!

Additional Volunteer Opportunities

The PTSA needs YOUR help to run successfully and bring great programs to our students! Please consider volunteering for one or more of the following:

Staff Appreciation Chair. If planning a family event is outside your comfort zone, but you love to plan parties, then Staff Appreciation is for you!   Lead a group of volunteers to come up with ideas and events to show the staff and teachers how much we care.

Book Fair Chair. The Book Fair is very well coordinated by Scholastic.  They execute an informational webinar and everything is online. They have streamlined the process so it is very easy.  This person will be responsible for helping coordinate the volunteer cashiers and helpers.   It's a short term job, but a busy one.

Winter Family Event/Multi-Cultural Event. Do you love when kids discover something new?  Then be a part of the Winter Family Event!  We need a chair person that can plan, promote and coordinate the winter event.

Movie Night Chair. We are looking to host a drive-in theater 2-3 times this year. Volunteers will be needed to promote the event, help with set-up and take down, run concessions.

After School Programs Chair. Help us facilitate with vendors to have after school programs available to our students.

Please contact Janis Yu at newcastleptsa.volunteers@gmail.com if interested in volunteering for any of the chair positions.

LionArt!

Did you know Newcastle has its own art program, run exclusively by volunteers? This program has been at Newcastle for years and we are excited to bring it back to its full capacity! We have our very own art room where grades 1-5 will be going each month to participate in some wonderful projects such as clay, glass and much more. Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten will also have art projects, and they will be done in their classrooms. Check out how our new room in portable 4 is coming along! Video HERE

This program is funded by our PTSA and run by volunteers like YOU! If you would like to volunteer as an art docent, (no experience or talent in art is required), please email lionartnewcastle@gmail.com. Remember, you need to have your district application approved first. Link to that can be found HERE

Gift-A-Book

Help keep the library stocked with hardcover books, while recognizing your child or loved one! A donation to Gift-A-Book will give your child recognition in a special display in the library area, bookplate personalization in the selected book, and the opportunity to be the first student to check out the selected book from the library. Donations are tax-deductible and can made online HERE until Friday, October 7th. If you donated during EVP, your information is on file and your child will be contacted to select a book. Please see the flyer HERE. Questions? Contact Debbie Park at parkave@gmail.com.
