Golden Acorn Recipients 2024

Congratulations to our 2024 Golden Acorn Recipients, Alice Kim and Bisa Meek! The Golden Acorn Award is presented to a school or community volunteer in recognition of their dedication and service to children and youth. You can read more about each recipient HERE. Congratulations to these wonderful volunteers! Thank you for all you do for our community!

Congrats to Newcastle’s Top Readers of Their Class!

These students did an amazing job reading anywhere from 420 to 4680 minutes to become the top readers in their classes. Forty percent of all reading minutes came from the top 24 readers during the Read-A-Thon. The winners were able to cash in their $10 credit to use in our Scholastic Book Fair this past week, courtesy of the Newcastle PTSA.

Movie Night for 4th & 5th Grades

Save the date for THURSDAY, APRIL 18th, at 6:00pm! Fourth and fifth graders will vote in their classes for a movie of their choice: Trolls World Tour, Dolittle, or Incredibles 2. Feel free to come dressed in your jammies or comfy clothes; bring your favorite stuffed animal and/or a blanket and pillow. Doors to the multi-purpose room will open at 5:30pm and the movie will begin as close to 6:00pm as possible. Popcorn will be served!

*This is NOT a drop-off event. All students must have an adult present. Students are also not allowed to wander around the building, and must stay in the multi-purpose room or on the playground with an adult present.

TK-1st will also have an opportunity for movie night on May 17th.

Join the PTSA Executive Board for the 2024-2025 School Year

Would you like to help set the direction for the PTSA? Want to be more “in the know” about what happens at school? Interested in meeting new people? All while working in service of our students? Then please consider joining our PTSA Executive Board. We’re made up of parents from all different backgrounds and experiences, just like our community. We have moms, a dad, parents who work full-time and part-time, and parents who don’t work outside the home. There’s a place for everyone. You can learn more about the various roles on the Board and the time commitment (typically less than 3-5 hours per month) HERE. If you’re interested in learning more or have someone you think would be great on the board, please contact Dana Kinghorn (part of our Nominating Committee) at dkinghorn80@gmail.com.
